Digital X-Rays

The new digital x-rays allows us to take necessary dental x-rays with greatly reduced exposures, since the CCD’s in the receptors are much more sensitive than x-ray film.   The images appear on a computer screen and can be enhanced as needed for diagostic quality.    We take our panoramic x-rays digitally too.    Another advantage of digital x-rays is the elimination of the use of toxic processing chemicals for film, which makes digital x-rays a “green” technology.
Laser Caries Detection

More and more patients place value on healthy and attractive teeth. In order to maintain them, the earliest possible care is essential.  The DIAGNOdent, using a diode laser beam to distinguish decay from healthy tooth structure, aids in the detections of caries. Even very small lesions are detected at the earliest stage, enabling you to protect and preserve the tooth substance.
Intraoral Cancer Screening

The Identafi(TM) 3000 enables doctors and dentists to identify biochemical and morphological changes in the cells of the mouth, throat, and tongue.   It involves an intraoral device which allows viewing tissues under two wavelengths of light which enhance differences between normal and abnormal tissues.  Dangerous changes in these tissues may be undetected by the naked eye, but are made visible through Multi-spectral technology.
 Intraoral Camera system

A hand held wand focused on your teeth and tissues allows the dental team to show you real time conditions on your teeth and oral tissues on a flat screen monitor.
Digital Photography

Digital SLR photography highlights cosmetic and tooth position and . wear issues, allowing for more informed discussions of treatment options.   How the front teeth are set in respect to the lips and the overall face can determine the success of an esthetic teeth, and this tool allows you and Dr. Wilkinson to view different aspects of your smile together.
Digital Impressions

The LAVA C.O.S. system allows the dental team to avoid messy impressions for crowns and cosmetic dentistry by using a hand held wand which takes a digital scan of your teeth.   This information is forwarded electronically to a lab which creates an acrylic model of the teeth using a process called stereo lithography.    The model is thus created from an optical scan only, without any messy impression materials.   From that model, esthetic dental restorations can be constructed by the laboratory.
