Digital Impressions The LAVA C.O.S. system allows the dental team to avoid messy impressions for crowns and cosmetic dentistry by using a hand held wand which takes a digital scan of your teeth. This information is forwarded electronically to a lab which creates an acrylic model of the teeth using a process called stereo lithography. The model is thus created from an optical scan only, without any messy impression materials. From that model, esthetic dental restorations can be constructed by the laboratory.
